COLOMBO (News 1st); As dry weather conditions persist across the country, Sri Lanka’s National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has reported a 10% spike in daily water consumption, prompting warnings of possible supply restrictions in elevated regions.

Speaking to media, Deputy General Manager Vajira Thiranagama stated that water supply to highland areas may be limited in the coming days if consumption continues to rise.

She urged the public to avoid using water for non-essential activities and to practice responsible and efficient water usage.

In response to the growing demand and potential shortages, the NWSDB has announced plans to deploy bowsers to deliver drinking water to areas already experiencing supply challenges.
