President Dissanayake Launches Construction of Jaffna International Cricket Stadium Project

COLOMBO (News 1st): The construction of the proposed Jaffna International Cricket Stadium was officially launched this afternoon under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The stadium is being developed under the Sri Lanka Cricket National Pathway Program.

Joining the event were Jaffna-born cricketers Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Theeshan Vithushan, and Newton Ranjith Kumar, who have represented both the national and youth teams of Sri Lanka.

The Jaffna International Cricket Stadium will be constructed with financial assistance from Sri Lanka Cricket.

Planned on a 138-acre site in Mandaitivu Island, the sports complex will feature a swimming pool, a fully equipped indoor stadium, star-class hotels and restaurants, luxury apartments, and entertainment facilities.

The stadium itself will occupy over 48 acres of land on Mandaitivu Island and will include 10 main playing pitches.
