Public Security Ministry Probes Fake Photograph Of Minister Ananda Wijepala

COLOMBO (News 1st); A special investigation has been launched into the circulation of a fabricated photograph on social media, falsely portraying Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala.

Issuing a statement, the Ministry said the image was deliberately shared with the claim that it showed the transfer of organized criminals, including Kehelbaddara Padme, to the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

The Ministry firmly rejected the false report and the photograph, stressing that legal action will be taken against those responsible for its publication.

And, further urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified content and to ensure the dissemination of only accurate and reliable information, particularly at a time when a nationwide special operation is underway to suppress organized crime and drug trafficking.
