Six Killed In Road Accidents In 24 Hours

COLOMBO (News 1st); Six people have died in road accidents within the past 24 hours.

Police said the accidents occurred in Paranthan, Morawewa, Anuradhapura, Walasmulla, and Aralaganwila.

In Paranthan, two youths aged 25 and 27 died after their motorcycle crashed into a parked lorry on the A-9 road. They died after being admitted to the Kilinochchi Hospital.

In Morawewa, a 71-year-old cyclist was killed in a collision between a bicycle and a motorcycle.

In Anuradhapura, a 26-year-old man from Galenbindunuwewa died when his motorcycle veered off the road and crashed near the Malwathuoya Iron Bridge.

In Walasmulla, a 56-year-old man from Meeella, Godawana, died after his motorcycle collided with a dog at the Nathuwala junction on the Hakmana, Walasmulla road.

In Aralaganwila, a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a motorcycle in the Medagama area on the Aralaganwila, Manampitiya road.
