COLOMBO (News 1st); A fatal shooting in Boralesgamuwa has led to the arrest of three suspects, believed to be linked to a gang-related killing that took place early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Malani Bulathsinhala Mawatha, where two young men were reportedly walking home after watching a musical show.
They were suddenly targeted in a gun attack, allegedly carried out by a man identified as “Sandro”, said to be an associate of underworld figure “Badovita Asanka.”
One of the victims, a 21-year-old from Mount Lavinia, died on the spot, while a 27-year-old was injured and is currently receiving treatment at Kalubowila Teaching Hospital.
Police say the shooter used a revolver and fled the scene in a red three-wheeler, which was later found abandoned near the Bokundara Economic Center.
The victim who died is believed to have been a close associate of another underworld figure known as “Kos Malli.”
Following a tip-off, officers from the Kalubowila Special Task Force (STF) conducted a raid and arrested three suspects—aged 19 and 20—from Dehiwala and Ratmalana.
They are believed to have assisted in the killing and have been handed over to the Western Province - South Crimes Division for further investigation.
