CID Reopens Probe into Lasantha Wickrematunga’s Murder

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has resumed its investigation into the murder of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunga.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, this renewed inquiry is being conducted in addition to the investigations previously carried out.

Wickramatunga, the former editor of The Sunday Leader newspaper, was assassinated in Ratmalana on January 9, 2009, while en route to his office in his car.

The CID has also forwarded the investigation file concerning the abduction and disappearance of journalist Keith Noyahr to the Attorney General.
