COLOMBO (News 1st); A group of supplementary medical professionals at the Gampaha District General Hospital have initiated a strike, protesting the hospital administration’s refusal to allow five transferred staff members to sign the hospital’s arrival registry.

The strike, led by the United Front of Supplementary Medical Professionals, is launched based on concerns that the transfer process has disrupted their ability to maintain 24-hour service coverage.

In response, Dr. D.L. Wanigaratne, Director of the Gampaha Hospital, stated that the transfer orders were issued by the Western Provincial Council and duly implemented.

He assured the public that the hospital is taking all possible measures to minimize disruptions and ensure patient care continues despite the ongoing strike.
