COLOMBO (News 1st); Police have arrested one of the two suspects involved in the recent shooting incident at Sahaspura, Borella.
The arrested individual, a 25-year-old resident of the 66 Watta area in Borella, was reportedly the motorcycle rider who transported the gunman to the scene.
The shooting, which occurred on 7 August at the Sirisara Uyana playground, targeted a group of individuals gathered at the location.
Two people were killed and three others injured in the attack, which was carried out by two assailants on a motorcycle.
Authorities previously arrested four other suspects in connection with aiding and abetting the shooting.
Investigations have revealed that the incident was the result of an ongoing conflict between two overseas-based drug traffickers known as “Kudu Duminda” and “Chathu Malli.”
Police continue to investigate the broader network behind the attack, which is believed to be part of a violent turf war linked to narcotics operations.
