COLOMBO (News 1st); Her Excellency The Honourable Ms. Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia, accompanied by her delegation, departed from Bandaranaike International Airport this morning (10), concluding a successful five-day state visit to Sri Lanka at the invitation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The Governor-General arrived in Sri Lanka on August 6.
During her stay, HE Governor-General Mostyn held bilateral discussions with President Dissanayake and Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya.
The talks focused on further strengthening cooperation between Australia and Sri Lanka, as well as exploring opportunities to expand areas of collaboration for the mutual benefit of both nations.
While in Sri Lanka, Governor-General Mostyn also toured various regions of the country and visited several Australian-supported projects in Bandaragama, Mirissa and Weligama.
The Capital Maharaja Group hosted HE Governor-General Mostyn, at Stein Studios in Ratmalana, last Friday.
There, she engaged in a vibrant discussion on the topic of “Leadership in a Modern and Multicultural Democracy” in an exclusive interview with Chevaan Daniel, Group Director of the Capital Maharaja Group.
This is the first visit by a Governor-General of Australia to Sri Lanka.
The Governor-General is the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
Minister of Science and Technology Prof. Chrishantha Abeysena and a group of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present at the airport to bid farewell to HE Governor-General Mostyn.
