Man Arrested For Impersonating Minister’s Secretary To Influence Police

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to influence the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Maharagama Police Station to release a suspect in custody.

According to police, the individual had posed as a secretary to Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala and made a phone call to the OIC, requesting the release of a suspect arrested in connection with a drug possession case.

The suspect was taken into custody for making unlawful attempts to interfere with police duties.
