Second Death Confirmed in Borella Sahaspura Shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st); A second individual injured in the recent Sahaspura shooting in Borella has succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Colombo, police confirmed.

The deceased has been identified as a 23-year-old resident of Sahaspura. He was among the four individuals injured during a shooting incident that occurred on the night of August 7 at the Sahaspura Grounds, where preparations were underway for a cricket match.

The initial attack claimed the life of a 23-year-old man from Kelaniya. Two unidentified gunmen, who arrived on a motorcycle, opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Police have since arrested a 33-year-old suspect, also a resident of Sahaspura, believed to have aided and abetted the gunmen involved in the attack.
