COLOMBO (News 1st): Acoording to Sri Lanka Customs, under the current circumstances, illegally imported vehicles will have to be re-exported unless government relief is granted.
Customs noted that while the government is working to provide a solution, a final decision on the matter will be announced soon.
Officials explained that when importing used vehicles, a stamped certificate of cancellation of registration from the bank of the relevant country is mandatory.
Currently, over 300 vehicles brought into the country without this required certificate have been been halted and cannot be released into the local market.
