UGC Committee to Release Report on Sabaragamuwa Student’s Death

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The five-member committee appointed by the University Grants Commission to investigate the death of a student from the Faculty of Technology at Sabaragamuwa University is expected to release its report next week.

The committee stated that further statements will be recorded from several students before finalizing the report.

Once completed, the report will be submitted to the Vice-Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University.

It is reported that more than 110 hours of testimonies have been recorded from students and others during the course of the investigation.

The incident occurred on April 26, when a second-year student of the Faculty of Technology passed away.

Eleven individuals have been remanded in connection with the incident.
