COLOMBO (News 1st) - In his message marking the observance of Hajj today, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake highlighted the spiritual significance of the sacred pilgrimage and its relevance to Sri Lanka's national journey.
Recognising Hajj as a profound expression of faith and sacrifice, the President noted its powerful message of unity, compassion, and equality, exemplified through the coming together of Muslims from around the world in Makkah.
He emphasised that these values are essential for fostering harmony and brotherhood in Sri Lanka and beyond.
Calling on all citizens to work collectively towards transformative social, economic, and political progress, the President said that the spirit of Hajj offers a strong foundation for building an enlightened and inclusive nation.
He extended heartfelt wishes to all Muslim devotees in Sri Lanka and around the world for a blessed Eid ul-Adha.
