COLOMBO (News 1st); The islandwide strike launched by allied health professionals has entered its second consecutive day, causing significant disruptions in hospital services across the country.

Secretary of the Joint Council of Supplementary Medical Professionals, Chanaka Dharmawickrama, stated that the strike was initiated due to the Ministry of Health’s continued failure to address their longstanding demands.

Key issues cited include delays in promotions, the non-recruitment of graduates from allied health sciences faculties, and three other unresolved concerns. The strike, which began yesterday morning, has left many patients visiting hospitals without access to essential medical services, leading to widespread distress.
