COLOMBO (News 1st) -The National Transport Commission (NTC) says that new guidelines and regulations will soon be introduced for all public passenger transport services.

Acting Director General of the NTC, Naomi Jayawardena, said that the authority to implement these measures has been granted under the recently passed National Transport Commission Amendment Act.

The upcoming regulations will apply to inter-provincial passenger buses, intra-provincial buses, school vans, three-wheelers, and office transport services.

According to the Commission, the objective is to streamline operations and enhance the overall efficiency and quality of public transport services.

The new regulations will be officially published in the Government Gazette.

Implementation authority will be delegated to the respective Provincial Road Passenger Transport Authorities, while overall regulation will remain under the purview of the National Transport Commission.
