Imthiaz Bakeer Markar Declines Return to SJB Chairmanship

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Member of Parliament Imthiaz Bakeer Markar has confirmed that he has received fresh appeals from party members urging him to reassume the chairmanship of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).

Bakeer Markar stated that a group of SJB activists recently visited his residence, requesting him to reconsider his resignation and return to the party’s leadership fold.

Despite their appeals, he emphasized that his decision to resign, made in March this year, remains unchanged.
