Historic Win for Sri Lanka: 'Sheysha' Clinches Best Dance Film Award at Cannes World Film Festival!

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sheysha - a Sri Lankan production by Isuru Gunathilaka has won the award of the Best Dance Film at the 'Remember The Future' World Film Festival in Cannes.

The award was presented to Gunathilaka's Sheysha in recognition of excellence in filmmaking at the World Film Festival.

Shesha, a film centered around the theme of dance, pays homage to those who make immense sacrifices to preserve an art form that is gradually fading away. 

Created by the collaboration of Ravibandu Vidyapathy and Chandana Wickramasinghe, both renowned figures in Sri Lankan dance, the film features a stellar cast.

Veteran dancers Chandana Wickramasinghe, Umali Thilakaratne, Malkanti Jayasinghe, Nalin Pradeep Uduwela, and other talented actors contribute to the performance. Notably, Shesha has achieved international acclaim, becoming the first Sri Lankan film to win the award for Best Dance Film in Cannes.

The prestigious World Film Festival will host the award ceremony on the 15th. 

Following its international recognition, Shesha, inspired by the intangible essence of Sri Lanka, is set to grace Sri Lankan cinemas in the latter half of this year.
