New Sri Lankan Envoy to Palestine Appointed

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka has appointed a representative to Palestine, equivalent in status to an ambassador, marking the first time such an appointment has been made.

Accordingly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath appointed M. Fauser as Sri Lanka’s representative to Palestine. A cordial discussion was held between Minister Herath and M. Fauser this afternoon following the appointment.

During the meeting, M. Fauser stated that Sri Lanka has always been a close friend of Palestine and expressed his hope to serve in Palestine in line with the policy and position of the Sri Lankan government.

It was also noted that Fauser had previously served for an extended period as the Secretary of the Palestine Solidarity Committee of Sri Lanka.

M. Fauser is scheduled to depart Sri Lanka tonight (04) to officially commence his responsibilities in Palestine.
