COLOMBO (News 1st); SLPP Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa speaking in Talawa, Anuradhapura, pointed out that the downfall of the Rajapaksa governments occurred as a result of internal conspiracies.

Namal Rajapaksa, who is also the National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), said that the government led by Mahinda Rajapaksa faced an internal conspiracy that ultimately led to its downfall in 2015.

He claimed that International forces and terrorist organizations collaborated to destabilize the administration, resulting in the formation of the Good Governance government.

Namal Rajapaksa added that during Mahinda Rajapaksa's tenure, Sri Lanka achieved remarkable economic growth, positioning itself as one of the fastest-developing nations in Asia, with a growth rate exceeding 6 percent.

When Gotabhaya Rajapaksa assumed power, the economic landscape had shifted significantly.
The growth rate had declined to less than 2.5 percent, posing challenges for the new administration, he added, noting that sespite initial successes, both internal and external conspiracies continued to target the government.

Namal Rajapaksa said that, notably, false claims about dwindling oil supplies circulated within the country, and these claims, propagated by some within the party, contributed to fuel shortages and power disruptions.
