Min. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe Appointed as Acting SLFP Chairman

COLOMBO (News 1st) -  Sri Lanka Freedom Party Executive Council on Sunday (21) has decided to appoint Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe as the Acting Chairman of SLFP.

Senior Vice Chairman Prof. Rohana Luxman Piyadasa announced that the SLFP Politburo which met on Saturday (20) night, unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe as the Acting Chairman of the party.

Meanwhile, the National Organizer of the SLFP Duminda Dissanayake in a letter to the Acting General Secretary of the SLFP Sarathi Dushmantha Mithrapala opposed the move to appoint Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe's appointment as Chairman of SLFP.

He claimed that the move was illegal, adding that Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva was recently appointed as the Acting SLFP Chairman as he is vested with the powers of chairmanship.
