Liquor Shops Closed in Parts of Sri Lanka for Thai Pongal

COLOMBO (News 1st); Liquor shops in Sri Lanka's Badulla and Nuwara Eliya districts, along with those in the entire Northern Province, will remain closed today, Monday, January 15th, in observance of the Thai Pongal festival. 

The announcement comes from the Department of Excise, aiming to ensure a respectful and peaceful environment for celebrating the important harvest festival.

"All liquor shops within the Badulla district, with the exception of the Ridhimaliyadda and Mahianganaya divisional secretariat divisions, will be closed today," stated the Department of Excise.
