COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo High Court today (29) fixed July 7 as the date to commence the trial against Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa in connection with the controversial “Krrish” financial transaction case.
The charges against Rajapaksa were formally filed by the Attorney General on February 5, 2025, before the Colombo High Court, alleging criminal breach of trust linked to a financial deal purportedly conducted for the promotion of rugby in Sri Lanka.
According to the indictment, Rajapaksa is accused of receiving a sum of Rs. 70 million from India-based Krish Company under the pretext of supporting rugby development, and subsequently misusing those funds.
Rajapaksa had previously been named as a suspect, following which he was arrested and produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court. He was later released on bail.
