Vice Chairman of the Samagi Tharuna Balawegaya Rehan Jayawickreme has filed a petition at the Supreme Court against the controversial Anti-Terrorism bill that has drawn much criticism both at home and around the world.
The government tabled the Anti Terrorism Bill in Parliament last Tuesday, but it was not presented to the House. The petition has therefore been filed out of an abundance of caution. The petition is therefore requesting a special determination.
Jayawickreme is being represented by SJB legal secretary President's Counsel Farman Cassim and Attorney Hejaaz Hisbullah. It was filed by instructing Attorney Tharmaraj Tharmaraja.
