Colombo (News 1st): Due to the rise in the water level of the Samanalavewa Reservoir with the rains, obstacles have arisen to seal off the leakage points.

The Ceylon Electricity Board stated that its water level has now risen to 10% of its total capacity.

Recently, with the dry weather, the water level in the reservoir dropped to 0.9%.

During that time, electrical engineers found 09 leaks in the reservoir.

Although a project to repair them had commenced, it has been hampered by the rising water level.

Meanwhile, with the rains, the water level in the reservoirs associated with the power generation has risen to 31%.

The Ceylon Electricity Board said that 19% of the daily electricity generation is generated by hydropower.
