Talks to Establish Power in CMC Successful: SJB

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has confirmed that talks to form a majority in the Colombo Municipal Council have been successfully concluded.

Chandima Weerakkody from the SJB clarified that while discussions are ongoing with various groups, the party is committed to ensuring that no one with questionable backgrounds, including individuals linked to the underworld, will be part of their coalition. 

However, he emphasized that it is essential to engage in open dialogue without labeling every participant as corrupt from the start.

SJB's Niroshan Padukka said that the party is confident in its ability to take control of the Colombo Municipal Council.

"All the discussions have gone well, and we expect to see the results this Thursday," he said, adding that the SJB would be joining forces with groups from the southern camps.
