Geological conditions in Mars detected in Sri Lanka; study to be conducted

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A group of scientists from a university in the US and some other countries affiliated with NASA are on a visit to Sri Lanka to conduct a study on the similarities between the country and Mars. 

The study will also involve a group of experts from Sri Lanka.

"Geological conditions similar to those in Mars are believed to be detected in Sri Lanka as well," Prof. Sunithi Karunathilake from the Department of Geology & Geophysics at Louisiana State University said.

The study will begin on June 26 and will be conducted across several parts of Sri Lanka.
