Colombo (News 1st) - Fishermen and other seafarers were warned to stay out of the east-central Arabian Sea as Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy gathered strength and bore down on the coastlines of Pakistan and India.

Biparjoy is moving very slowly northwards and is expected to make landfall on Thursday, June 15 between Karachi and the Indian city of Kurch in the state of Gujarat.

It is currently packing gusts of wind of up to 190 kmph and is one of the strongest cyclones ever seen in the Arabian Sea, the Indian Met Dept said. Areas as far as the Gulf of Mannar near Sri Lanka will experience rough seas throughout the next several days.
