COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Meteorology says that the heavy rainfall currently affecting the island is expected to gradually decrease as the low-pressure area in the Southwest Bay of Bengal moves further away from the island.
However, Several spells of showers are expected, in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces including in the Trincomalee District.
Showers may occur during the morning hours in the Southern Coastal Areas including Kalutara, Galle, and Matara districts.
Short spells of showers or thundershowers are likely after 2:00 PM in parts of the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Kalutara, Galle, and Matara districts.
Certain areas within the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Southern districts may still experience fairly heavy falls exceeding 50 mm.
