Provincial Councils Elections (Amendment) Bill gazetted

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Provincial Councils Elections (Amendment) Bill has been gazetted.

The new bill will replace the Provincial Councils Elections (Amendment) Act No. 17 of 2017. 

If the bill is submitted to Parliament and passed, it will reportedly be possible to hold the Provincial Council Election under the old electoral system.

The bill was recently presented as a private member's proposal by Jaffna District MP M.A. Sumanthiran PC.

Meanwhile, News 1st Parliament correspondent said officials of the National Insurance Trust Fund were summoned before the Committee on Public Enterprises today.

The Committee on Public Petitions is due to convene in Parliament today as well.
