Vatican engaging in a peace mission to Russia and Ukraine - Pope

Colombo (News1st) - Pope Francis has stated that the Vatican is taking part in a peace mission to try to put an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. However pope declined to provide more information

"I am ready to complete any necessary tasks. Currently, a mission is underway, but it is not yet known to the public. I will share it once it is made public, the pope said to reporters on Sunday during a trip home following a three-day visit to Hungary.

“I think that peace is always made by opening channels. You can never achieve peace through closure … This is not easy.”

The pope further stated that he had discussed the situation in Ukraine with both Metropolitan Hilarion, a bishop who represents the Russian Orthodox Church in Budapest, and with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
