COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Animal Production & Health had granted approval for the consignment of 1 million eggs imported from India.
This is the second consignment of eggs imported from India, and Sri Lanka Customs will release the eggs to the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation.
Director General of the Department of Animal Production & Health Dr. Hemali Kothelawala told News 1st that samples from the third consignment of imported eggs are being subject to tests.
The consignment of 1 million eggs will be released to restaurants and bakeries for the festive season, said the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation.
Chairman of the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation Asiri Walisundara told News 1st that the previously imported consignment of 2 million eggs was distributed to restaurants and bakeries after approval was given.
