Criminal wanted for three murders arrested by STF

COLOMBO (News 1st); An individual identified as 'Vidda' one of the close associates of notorious criminal gang leader Ganemulla Sanjeewa was arrested along with another person.

The Police Special Task Force said that the two men were arrested opposite the Kadawatha Bus Stand on Thursday (6) based on a tip received by the Organized Crimes Prevention Unit.

The STF received a tip-off claiming that the individual identified as 'Vidda' was transporting heroin in a van.

When the van was inspected, STF personnel recovered 24.5 grams of heroin and arrested the suspect.

The STF said that the suspect was wanted for three homicides in Sri Lanka.

A 23-year-old man who was serving as the driver of the van was arrested for the possession of 15.3 grams of heroin.
