Morocco shock Spain to progress to Quarter-Final

Colombo (News 1st) - A gruelling battle between Spain and Morocco ended with Morocco coming out on top, winning 3-0 on penalties. This will be their first World Cup Quarter-Final appearance.

The FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash went goalless in the first 90 minutes of play. The story was the same at the end of extra time. 123 minutes of play was not enough to decide the winner. Only a penalty shootout could separate the two sides.

Earlier in the tournament, Morocco topped Group F while Spain finished second in Group E.

Morocco will face Portugal or Switzerland in quarter-finals on Saturday.
