Colombo (News 1st) – Nothing is more dramatic in football than a World Cup penalty shoot-out, and that's precisely what the Round of 16 clash between Japan and Croatia delivered.
Croatia goal keeper Dominik Livakovic was the star with three penalty saves. Croatia won 3-1 on penalties, securing their spot in the Quarter-Finals.
Daizen Maeda opened the scoring for Japan before Ivan Perisic levelled for Croatia.
Japan beat Germany and Spain in group stage to finish top of their group. Croatia finished behind Morocco in Group F.
Tonight's winner faces Brazil or South Korea, who meet at 19:00 GMT, in quarter-finals on Friday (15:00).
