50% Hydropower generation thanks to heavy rains

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Reservoirs near hydropower plants have received considerable rainfall.
The spokesperson of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Andrew Nawamuni said that the reservoirs associated with Victoria, Randenigala, Rantabe, Castle Ree, and other power plants have received heavy rainfall in recent days.
He said the water levels of the reservoirs have reached 77% of the total capacity.
The Ceylon Electricity Board said that Hydropower generation serves for 50% of electricity added to the national grid.
