Woman who defrauded Rs. 130 million, arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A woman who defrauded people promising them overseas employment has been arrested in Thalawathugoda.

Police stated that the suspect had defrauded the victims of Rs. 130 million.

According to the Police, preliminary investigations revealed that over Rs. 30 million were defrauded from people in Negombo area and more than Rs. 100 million from other areas.

The Police have recieved 10 complaints in this regard.

The suspect was identified as a 46-year-old resident of Thalawathugoda.

The woman, who was arrested by the Negombo Criminal Investigation Division, was produced before the Negombo Court and was remanded until the 27th.
