COLOMBO (News 1st); The Association of Medical specialists (AMS) has decided to refrain from private medical practice tomorrow (9) while maintaining services at Government hospitals.

Issuing a release, the AMS states that its members will attend genuine emergencies such as accidents and other surgical and medical emergencies, as well as inward care for already admitted patients in the private sector.

The decision has been arrived in accordance with the earlier decision of the AMS to support the island wide peaceful protest campaigns to pressurize the current administration to step down paving way to an all-party administration.

However, the AMS states that it regrets any inconvenience caused by their actions to general public who seek private medical care.

The AMS has earnestly requested such patients to attend state hospitals where specialists and other health personnel are committed to maintain normal services in-spite of restrictions created by fuel and medical supplies shortage.
