Waves wash up section of Galle Road

COLOMBO (News 1st); The section of Galle road between Usmudunawa junction to Kumara Kanda junction in the Ambalangoda area has been temporarily closed.

The police said that the relevant section has been closed down due to strong waves reaching that section of the road, which obstructed vehicular movement.

As a result, the police have requested drivers to use Usmudunawa, Aluthwala, Metiyagoda, Gonapinuwala, Kumarakanda road or other alternative routes.

Meanwhile, due to the arrival of the South West Monsoon season, the sea areas have become rough and there is a possibility of tidal waves being caused on shores in Puttalam, Colombo, Galle, Hambantota and Pottuvil areas.
