COLOMBO (News 1st); A 53-year-old man, a three-wheeler driver by profession, died of a heart attack on Wednesday (15) while waiting in line for fuel.

He had been waiting in line for hours in the line for three-wheelers while his son had been in line for the motorcycles for the same period of time.

Unfortunately, the wait was too much for the older man as he succumbed to cardiac arrest.

This is not the first time a person died while waiting in line for fuel in Sri Lanka.

Similar incidents were reported since the beginning of 2022, as some died of heat exhaustion.

Sri Lanka is battling its worse economic crisis since independence in 1948, and the shortage of reserves has made it nearly impossible to import fuel and other essentials.
