Electricity Tariff Hike? Proposal to Cabinet today (6)

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said that the proposal to increase electricity tariffs will be submitted to the Cabinet on Monday (6).

The Chairman of the CEB M.M.C Ferdinando said that the aim of increasing the electricity tariff is to reduce the CEB's unlimited losses.

Meanwhile, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has permitted the CEB to implement daily power cuts until the 12th of June.

Accordingly, the power supply will be cut off for 2 hours and 15 minutes daily from Monday (6) to 10th June.

The Chairman of the PUCSL Janaka Ratnayake said the daily power cuts will be limited to one hour on June 11th and 12th.
