COLOMBO (News 1st); 13 State institutions have been summoned before the Committee On Public Enterprises (COPE) and the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) next week, in view of the country’s current crisis situation.
Moreover, heads of three institutions have also been summoned before the COPE committee while heads of 10 institutions have been summoned before COPA.
Chairman of COPE, Prof. Charitha Herath said that the Urban Development Authority has been summoned tomorrow (7), while the Moratuwa University has been summoned on 9th July and the Ceylon Electricity Board on Wednesday (9).
Meanwhile, the COPA has summoned the Agriculture Ministry, Import and Export Control Department, Fisheries Ministry, Trade, Commerce and Food Security Ministry, Food Commissioner’s Department, Co-operative Development Department, Sathosa, Consumer Affairs Authority, National Institute of Co-operative Development and the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation.
The relevant institutions have been summoned before COPA to inquire into the country’s food security situation.
