Divisional Secretaries step out from fuel process

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Divisional Secretaries have decided NOT to participate in the fuel distribution process until a proper mechanism is introduced for such purpose.

Letters of recommendation were issued through the Divisional Secretaries for the supply of fuel for essential services and machinery used in agriculture.

Divisional secretaries pointed out that filling stations reserved for essential services DO NOT receive fuel.

The Sri Lanka Association of Divisional Secretaries and Assistant Divisional Secretaries decided to withdraw from rendering their services, citing that a statement from the country's energy minister to term that only ambulances are considered as essential services, caused embarrassment to their service.
