COLOMBO (News 1st); Four persons were injured when a van collided with a train near the Periyamulla railway station on the Puttalam road today (21).

Superintendent of Railways Gamini Seneviratne stated that operations have been launched to rescue another person who was trapped between the van and the train.

The four victims who were injured, have been admitted to hospital.

The accident took place at around 2.30 PM today (21), and Superintendent Seneviratne stated that the accident had taken place while the car was attempting to cross the railway line while the security gate at the railway crossing was closed.

The van had then collided with the service train traveling towards Puttalam.
