COLOMBO (News 1st): Many areas on both sides of the Kalu Ganga have been inundated due to minor floods caused by heavy rains.

The Irrigation Department stated that minor floods are also expected in the Kaluganga, Ratnapura and Bulathsinhala areas.

Minor floods have also occurred near the Gin Ganga.

Meanwhile, more than 2,400 people have been affected by floods and landslides in the Ratnapura, Elapatha, Kalawana, Pelmadulla, Kuruwita, Kahawatta, Balangoda, Opanayaka, Nivithagala, Kiriella and Kolonna Divisional Secretariats in the Ratnapura District.

Ratnapura District Disaster Management Director S.H. Muditha Manjula stated that the Kalu river is still at a low flood level in the Ratnapura area.
