COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said social media networks and groups were used to gather crowds to engage in acts of violence on the 9th & 10th of May 2022, where houses, buildings, and vehicles were damaged.

Sri Lanka Police said 59 such groups and the Administrators of those groups have been identified and investigations are underway against them under the Criminal Law and the Computer Crime Act of Sri Lanka.

Further, Sri Lanka Police is seeking public assistance to crackdown on these group.
