Private buses on strike from midnight (5)

COLOMBO (News 1st); Private bus operators in Sri Lanka have decided to step away from operating buses with effect from midnight on Thursday (5).

Speaking to News 1st the Chairman of All Ceylon Bus Owners Association Anjana Priyanjith said that an island-wide bus strike will be in effect from today (5) midnight to Friday (6) midnight as a mark of support to the Sri Lankans who are engaging in protests.

At the same time, Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association has decided to step away from operating buses with effect from midnight today (5), said Gemunu Wijeratne, the Chairman of the association.

Due to the Hartal to be held on Friday (6), island-wide private bus owners have decided to support the protest against the present Government led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
