Energy Minister issues new fuel distribution guidelines

COLOMBO (News 1st); The newly-appointed Minister of Energy, Kanchana Wijesekara has issued new regulations for fuel transportation.

  1. Increasing the capacity of the train fuel transportation from 40% to 100% to the rural depots.This can greatly reduce the cost of transportation. This will also be a permanent solution.

  2. Licensing of new vehicles which have not been registered so far at CPSTL transport prices and issuance of new licenses within a week by deploying a staff 24 hours a day and minimizing the time spent for the process of issuing licenses.

  3. Allocating separate petrol distribution terminals for Bowser vehicles owned by petrol stations and giving them priority.

  4. Cancelling the operating licenses of vehicles that do not report for duty within the next two days and to revoke the licenses of the vehicles of those who obstruct the vehicles coming into service and take legal action against them.

  5. Increasing the number of Government owned bowsers to operate daily, to make necessary amendments for a fixed price formula for the incoming private vehicles and to provide them with the required protection.

  6. Operation of terminals 24 hours a day to transport the required fuel stocks.
