Several reservoirs reach maximum capacity

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Irrigation Department has instructed farmers to commence cultivation in the Yala season before the first week of May.

Director of the Water Management Unit, Engineer D. Abeysiriwardena stated that the water capacity of reservoirs in the country has increased to about 72%.

Meanwhile, 4 sluice gates of the Rajanganaya reservoir have been opened.

The Irrigation Department stated that the water levels of Kalawewa, Nuwarawewa, Nachchaduwa, Mahavilachchiya, Yan Oya and Yoda Ela have also reached maximum capacity.
