Heroin found inside sprats in smuggling attempt

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Prison officials have arrested one man for attempting to smuggle heroin into a local prison.

Prison officers inspected a rice parcel that was to be moved into the prison premises and discovered small packets of heroin carefully concealed in four sprats that were in the meal.

The suspect was handed over to the Kalutara North Police for further investigation of the rice parcel.
